David Berger to be Honored at AJS Reception

On Monday evening, December 19, YU’s Bernard Revel Graduate School of Jewish Studies will sponsor a reception in appreciation of David Berger, Ruth & I. Lewis Gordon Professor of Jewish History and Dean of Revel, at the 43rd annual conference of the Association for Jewish Studies. At the celebration, to be held in Washington, D.C., Berger—a world-renowned scholar of medieval Jewish history and a past president of the AJS—will be presented with the newly published volume, New Perspectives on Jewish-Christian Relations: In Honor of David Berger, edited by Elisheva Carlebach and Jacob J. Schacter (Brill Academic Publishers: Leiden, 2011). This volume, which celebrates Berger’s seminal contributions to the understanding of the historical and contemporary interactions between Judaism and Christianity, is comprised of 22 essays by leading world scholars.
