Fitzgerald Gives Talks and Publishes on Her Recent Book

Dr. Lauren Fitzgerald, professor of English, chair of the Yeshiva College English Department, and director of the Wilf Campus Writing Center, recently gave several talks and published pieces related to her coauthored volume, The Oxford Guide for Writing Tutors: Practice and Research. A textbook for undergraduate and graduate writing tutors, The Oxford Guide has been adopted for tutor education courses at dozens of institutions across the country, including Columbia University, Georgetown University and Oberlin College. DSC03242In April, Fitzgerald presented on writing centers at the University of London’s School of Advanced Studies and blogged about undergraduate writing tutor research for The Writing Center Journal, which favorably reviewed The Oxford Guide in its fall issue. Last fall, she and her Oxford Guide coauthor, Dr. Melissa Ianetta of the University of Delaware, participated in a videoconference for the Madison Area Writing Center Colloquium at the University of Wisconsin–Madison, and Fitzgerald co-led a workshop at the National Conference on Peer Tutoring in Writing. In addition, she coauthored a review essay on writing center scholarship for College English as well as an article in WPA: Writing Program Administration memorializing Linda Bergmann, a fellow writing center scholar who passed away suddenly in 2014.
