Levine Participates in International Conference, Delivers Numerous Lectures

62465-04Dr. Michelle Levine, associate professor of Bible at Stern College for Women, participated in the June 2016 International Conference on Hebrew Language, Literature and Culture for the National Association of Professors of Hebrew at Brown University in Providence, Rhode Island. She delivered a paper titled, “Israel on Trial: Nah'manides on the Poetic Testimony of Deuteronomy 32 (Ha’azinu),” and chaired the session on “Post-Biblical Literatures: Northern French Exegesis of the Middle Ages.” Additionally, Levine gave a shiur [lecture] during Shavuot in her Kew Gardens Hills community to a gathering of almost 80 women, on the topic, “Anokhi Hashem Elokekha: The Fundamentals of Faith.” She also spoke on this topic for the Young Israel of Holliswood/ Holliswood Jewish Center Rosh Chodesh Series, in Holliswood, New York, in early July. Levine has also presented a two-part lecture series on the Book of Daniel to a women’s group in Holliswood in June and July. She lectured as well in June for the annual Yemei Iyun on Bible and Jewish thought at SAR High School, on the topics of: “Woman of Folly, Woman of Valor: A Feminine Perspective on the Book of Proverbs,” and “The Proper Practice of Repentance in the Haftarot of the Three Weeks.”
