Dr. Linda M. Shires, David and Ruth Gottesman Professor of English and chair of the English department at Stern College for Women, spoke on November 3, 2016, at the North American Victorian Studies Association annual conference in Phoenix, Arizona, on “Nineteenth-Century Reforms in Fine Arts Observing.”

Her talk discussed Parliamentary commission debates and reforms instantiated over decades at The National Gallery of Art, London.

Her 1992 book, Rewriting the Victorians: History, Theory, and the Politics of Gender, where she is both editor and contributor, has been selected for Routledge’s Historical Resources: History of Feminism series, an interdisciplinary digital reference resource that brings together a wealth of materials spanning the 19th century.
