gurockDr. Jeffrey Gurock, Libby M. Klaperman Professor of Jewish History, has just published Constant Challenge: Sports and American Judaism (Michael Scharf Publication Trust of Yeshiva University Press and The Toby Press).

The book collects nine essays that examine the challenges of sports to American Judaism and the varied responses of the American community toward accommodating that secular force and integrating it into religious life.

Gurock hopes that readers will not only find the stories interesting but will also “use this volume as a text for examining the larger American Jewish experience.”
