Gidea Receives Two Grants

mariangideaDr. Marian Gidea, chair of the mathematics department at Stern College for Women, has been awarded two grants as an organizer of the international conference, “A Broad Perspective on Finite and Infinite Dimensional Dynamical Systems,” to be held at University of Barcelona, Spain, from June 12 to June 16, 2017. The grants have been awarded by the Alfred P. Sloan Foundation ($20,000) and National Science Foundation ($32,010). The conference is a major research event which will bring together numerous leading experts from across the world.  It is expected to have broader impacts on scientific developments in  dynamical systems and related fields as well as on the training and education of young researchers. Besides Dr. Gidea, several students from Yeshiva University are planning to attend this event and give poster presentations: Yitzchak Shmalo (MA in mathematics), Maxwell Musser (PhD in mathematics) and Wai-Ting Lam (PhD in mathematics).
