Pollack Teaches Class on Warning Signs of Sexual Predators

Pollack_57297A-11Daniel Pollack, professor at Wurzweiler School of Social Work, co-presented a continuing education course on Sunday, April 23, with Sandra Lax ’09W titled “Sexual Grooming and Sexual Addiction.” In many child sexual abuse cases, the abuse is preceded by sexual grooming, a preparatory process in which a perpetrator gradually gains a person’s or organization’s trust with the intent to be sexually abusive. The workshop introduced the participant to the key elements of grooming, grooming behaviors perpetrators use, and legal and administrative responses to grooming. Sandra Lax received her MSW at Wurzweiler and is a registered social worker and a member of the International Institute of Trauma and Addiction Professionals and the Ontario Association of Social Workers.
