Fine Discusses History of Menorah on TLV1

Fine_Steven_520x468Dr. Steven Fine, the Dean Pinkhos Churgin Professor of Jewish History and director of the Yeshiva University Center for Israel Studies, was recently interviewed by “The Tel Aviv Review,” a program on TLV1, an English-language podcast network based in Tel Aviv. In the interview, titled, "The Menorah: A Most Emblematic Emblem,” Fine analyzes the twists and turns in the millennia-long history of what he calls the “Jewish holy grail” and notes that the menorah is the “longest continuously used religious symbol in Western culture.” The interview was recorded at the annual conference of the Association of Israel Studies at Brandeis University from June 12-14, 2017. It can be heard in its entirety here.
