Nissel Presents Lecture and Workshop on Suicide Prevention

Chaim NisselDr. Chaim Nissel, Yeshiva University’s dean of students and an adjunct assistant instructor at Wurzweiler School of Social Work, presented a community lecture on October 24, 2017, on suicide prevention, titled “13 Reasons Why? NOT!” The talk was hosted by the Mental Health Resources division of the Sephardic Bikur Holim (SBH) in Brooklyn, New York. Dr. Nissel also conducted a workshop for clinicians at SBH’s counseling center. This seminar taught 35 community mental health practitioners to properly evaluate and intervene with suicidal clients to help reduce suicides and suicide attempts. Dr. Nissel has trained over 1,200 therapists in Canada and the United States on the latest suicide prevention strategies.
