Mountain Lions Kayak in Monksville, NJ

c9f9ac9f-db2f-4b42-9ce5-e105877a0d07 The MTA Mountain Lions Outdoors Club - joined by Ms. Rosengard, Mr. Goldberg and Faculty Advisor Mr. Sragow - went kayaking on Friday, September 23rd, at the Monksville Reservoir. It was a fabulous day, and we were able to enjoy the sights and sounds of the reservoir as well as get some nice exercise. The Monksville Reservoir was created when the Wanaque River was dammed up in 1985. The reservoir is part of the water system that serves Passaic and Bergen counties, and it is the only part of the system that is open to public boating. Because it is so beautiful and the water is so calm, it is also used by the Society for the Education of American Sailors (SEAS) to teach sailing, and often sailboats and stand up paddleboards can be seen there. We didn't see any this time, pretty much having the place to ourselves, except for the geese. The Outdoors Club plans to take advantage of the nice weather with lots more hiking and biking events in October and November. Stay tuned!
