Junior Night Out at the Jets Game

by Noam Putterman ('18) 8ee712ce-7565-40da-971e-fae5b57acbd4 This past Monday night, the Juniors were treated to a night out in East Rutherford, New Jersey, where they watched the New York Jets play the Indianapolis Colts on Monday Night Football. The class was accompanied by their Rebbeim, along with Rabbi Kahn, Rabbi Green, and Mr. Elie Hirt. The students took their seats just as the game began, and enjoyed a great view from the third deck. Most of the students were somewhat disheartened, though, as the Colts ran off to a 14-0 lead in the beginning the first quarter, but MTA made up for it by giving the students a special surprise a bit later. Rabbi Green and Elie took the boys down to the entrance of the stadium, where they stood in front of a door that said "All Concourses." Most of us did not know what this meant, so we mingled among ourselves in the brisk night. But when the doors opened, the students were taken through the inside of the stadium all the way to an entrance onto the field itself! Much to the Juniors' surprise and pleasure, we went onto a real NFL football field in front of a much-less-than-capacity crowd during halftime! We stepped onto the sideline turf and walked around and when, after a few minutes, the players started coming onto the field from their locker room, we saw their intense warm-ups from as close as fans could get! We then returned to our seats and enjoyed the rest of the game. Alas, the Jets were unable to produce much on the field, either offensively or defensively, but the 11th graders enjoyed the evening nonetheless. The Junior class thanks MTA for the wonderful night out and looks forward to more exciting events in the future!
