This past Tuesday night, the junior grade and their parents convened in Furst Hall for the college guidance department’s annual College Night. Following words of welcome from Mr. Sragow detailing the college application process, Rabbi Kahn spoke about the importance of this decision in the lives of the juniors. The juniors then heard from Mr. Jonathan Schwab, YU’s Associate Director of University Housing about “Why and How to Write a Killer Essay.” Mr. Schwab spoke of the importance of a captivating first few sentences to pull the reader in, as well as other techniques in a college application essay. The juniors were then given time to walk around with their parents visiting the booths set up by numerous colleges and universities. Yeshiva University and Princeton University were among the most popular tables. Even Tel Aviv University ran a booth! Throughout the night, Rabbi Brownstein and Mr. Sragow fielded questions from the inquisitive juniors about applying to and choosing a college. The juniors very much enjoyed College Night as they begin to prepare for their college applications and their college decisions.
