Valise Storage Cluster Failure – 11-1-11 – Resolved

We have experienced a catastrophic failure on the Valise storage cluster where much of the Network File Shares exist. This cluster was planned to be replaced during the first quarter of 2012. However, the hardware is not recoverable, so we started restoring data from backup tapes to the new Departmental File Share.

The volume of data involved means that this process will run for several days, so you will not have access to your shared data until it is restored to the new location.
