Analyzing Anti-Semitism

Abraham Foxman to Deliver April 2 Hillel Rogoff Memorial Lecture Abraham H. Foxman, national director of the Anti-Defamation League since 1987, will discuss “Reflections on Current Events: Anti-Semitism in 2014” at the Hillel Rogoff Annual Memorial Lecture at Yeshiva University on April 2 at 8 p.m. in the Israel Henry Beren Campus’ Koch Auditorium at 245 Lexington Avenue, New York City. Foxman, author of Never Again? The Threat of the New Anti-Semitism, is a world-renowned leader in the fight against anti-Semitism, bigotry and discrimination. At the forefront of significant issues, including terrorism, religious intolerance and the Holocaust, he consistently speaks out against hatred and violence. Foxman meets regularly with elected officials and has had consultations in Russia, Israel, Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Jordan, China, Japan, South Africa and Argentina on problems of ethnic hatred, violence, terrorism and promoting democracy. A Holocaust survivor, Foxman was a member of the President’s United States Holocaust Memorial Council, appointed by Presidents Reagan, Bush and Clinton and has been a participant of official presidential delegations to special events in Europe and Israel. “We are delighted that Mr. Foxman will be delivering this year's Hillel Rogoff Memorial lecture and sharing his insights into current events,” said Cynthia Wachtell, director of the S. Daniel Abraham Honors Program and research associate professor of American studies at Stern College for Women, who is organizing the event. “Typically the lecture is delivered by a writer, scholar or prominent figure in the Jewish community. Mr. Foxman, who has served for more than a quarter century as the ADL's national director, wonderfully embodies all three of these roles." The lecture is named for Hillel (Harry) Rogoff, an early alumnus of YU and longtime editor of the Jewish Daily Forward. The lecture was established in 1971 through the efforts of the late YU English professor and administrator Dr. David Mirsky and members of the Rogoff family. The event is open to the public and free of charge. For reservations, please email foxmanlecture@gmail.com.
