Who's On Furst?

Yeshiva University Launches Weekly News Radio Show On Thursday, March 10 at 2 p.m. EST, join Mayer Fertig and Miriam L. Wallach for the inaugural edition of “Who’s On Furst?”—a new weekly internet radio show that will be heard on www.nachumsegal.com and www.yu.edu/radio. The program, a production of YU’s Office of Communications and Public Affairs, will stream live from Furst Hall on the Wilf Campus in Washington Heights with an entertaining and informative mix of news and information from around Yeshiva University and the Jewish world. This week’s guests include Uri Westrich, director of the immensely popular Maccabeats videos, and Immanuel Shalev of the Maccabeats, about fame, their new video hit, “The Purim Song” and life after “Candlelight,” their Chanukah video that has been viewed more than 4.7 million times on YouTube. Later in the hour, Fertig and Wallach will speak with Adina Poupko, representing the Galena-Poupko family—whose daughter Ayelet is in need of a bone marrow match—and with Jay Feinberg, executive director of the Gift of Life Foundation. Feinberg will discuss his organization’s latest priority, that will replace the effort to match bone marrow donors and recipients. All of this, plus a review of the headlines in Jewish papers around the New York-New Jersey region, community calendar announcements and much more. Fertig, YU’s senior director of media relations, is a former managing editor of WCBS 880. He is known to listeners of Jewish morning radio for the past 22 years as a volunteer fill-in for Nachum Segal on his “JM in the AM” program on WFMU. Wallach is the writer behind the very entertaining “That’s Life” column that began in The Jewish Star newspaper and recently transitioned online to www.dearthatslife.com, as well as an educator. At The Jewish Star, which Fertig published and edited, he and Wallach co-hosted the “What’s Next” internet program in the same Thursday time slot on nachumsegal.com. “Who’s On Furst?” may well become the 60 most enjoyable minutes you spend at work each week. Here’s a suggestion: create a calendar ‘reminder’ to ‘tune’ in on Thursdays at 2pm. The program will also be archived at www.yu.edu/radio, in podcast form and as streaming audio.
