Invitation to a Revel guest lecture and dinner on Tuesday, February 26th

tellerAll Revel students, faculty and alumni are cordially invited to a special dinner and lecture. Professor Adam Teller of Brown University, will be speaking on the topic of Print, Power, and Prestige: The Polish-Lithuanian Rabbinate and the Book in the Sixteenth and Seventeenth Centuries on Tuesday, February 26 at 8PM in Furst Hall Room 535.

  Adam Teller is Associate Professor of Judaic Studies and History at Brown University and the 2012/13 Senior NEH Fellow at the Center for Jewish History in New York. Born in London and educated at Oxford University, he received his doctorate from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem. He works on the economic, social and cultural history of early modern Jews in Poland-Lithuania. He has published two monographs, both in Hebrew: Living Together: The Jewish Quarter of Poznan in the Seventeenth Century (Jerusalem, 2003) and Money, Power, and Influence: The Jews on the Radziwill Estates in Eighteenth Century Lithuania (Jerusalem, 2005). His articles cover a wide range of topics, including the history of the Polish-Lithuanian Rabbinate and the fate of the Jews during and after Gezeires Tah-Tat. Dinner before the lecture at 6 p.m. in Belfer Hall, Room 1214 There is no charge for dinner. However, space is limited,so reservations must be made in advance.
