A recent graduate of the Frisch School in Paramus, New Jersey, Penina Warburg is spending the 2013-2014 academic year studying in Israel at Migdal Oz before attending the S. Daniel Abraham Honors Program at Stern College. Although Penina entered the college admissions process with her sights set on attending an Ivy League university, her experiences at numerous Straus Center events, as well as other Yeshiva University programs, helped her realize that the YU community was the place where she could find a peer group who, like her, value wrestling with the complex philosophical and theological issues unique to Modern Orthodox Judaism. In 2011, Penina co-founded RealSchool, an education reform program that engages in student-directed, whole-person learning. Penina is also a member and facilitator of JEDLAB, a new network of Jewish education stakeholders. In the summer of 2013, Penina participated in the Tikvah-Straus Summer Institute on God, Ethics, and American Democracy at Yale University and Yeshiva University. She hopes to continue participating in Straus Center programs, classes and events when she arrives at Yeshiva University in Fall 2014.
