A Day of Culture

Spanish III students are engaged in an exciting unit on Pablo Picasso, which integrates lessons on Spanish culture and language. New vocabulary is implemented while describing, comparing and interpreting various pieces of art, as well as in making connections to their social and historical backgrounds. A special field trip to the MOMA deepened the students' understanding and appreciation of Picasso's works, as they visited a rare exhibition of Picasso's sculptures. Each student chose a particular piece to study and describe, with the goal of crafting a presentation for the 10th graders.
Following the visit to MOMA, the class ate lunch at Carlos & Gabby's on Main Street.  Combining Mexican food with a day of Spanish culture highlighted the proliferation of Hispanic influence in our world. This trip was especially fun and educational!
Thank you to Senora Georgia Cohen for coordinating.
