Hillel Training Article Now Online

Dr. Victor Schwartz, dean of students at Yeshiva University, was instrumental in the planning and execution of a training for Hillel professionals on August 3rd, 2010. The training was a joint venture between the UJA-Federation of New York and the Jed Foundation. The Jed Foundation works to prevent suicide and reduce emotional suffering among college students through different programs that are accessible both on campuses and online. The organization’s key initiatives aim to lessen the stigma often associated with mental health issues, as well as to increase the awareness and availability of mental health services on campuses. The training brought approximately 60 Hillel and other campus professionals together on the topic of mental health in college students and recognizing the signs of various types of distress and suicide prevention.
