Ladin Publishes Poems, Essays, Presents Lectures

Ladin-1Dr. Joy Ladin, David and Ruth Gottesman Professor of English and director of the Writing Center at YU’s Stern College for Women, published a number of works this summer and delivered several presentations. Her recently published poetry include “Letter to Jonah,” featured in Blue Lyra Review on June 28; “Nasia’s Anger,” “Indian Take-Out” and “Aubade,” featured in Mouse Tales Press in July; “Return to the Stone of Losses” and “Letter to the Lord,” featured in the Jewish Journal on August 14 and September 3, respectively. Ladin’s essay, “Supposed Persons: Emily Dickinson and ‘I’ ,” appeared in The Emily Dickinson International Society Bulletin in its May/June 2013 issue. In addition, she delivered a plenary address at the 11th Annual North American Chevra Kadisha and Jewish Cemetery Conference in Philadelphia, PA, on June 10, titled, “She Said ‘I Know What It’s Like to Be Dead,’ ” as well as a keynote address titled, “Shipwrecked with God,” at the Eshel Midwest Summer Retreat at Lake Delton, WI, on August 9.
