shiresDr. Linda M. Shires, Gottesman Professor and Chair of English at Yeshiva University’s Stern College for Women, delivered a lecture at the 2013 North American Victorian Studies Association Conference, held in Pasadena, Cal. from October 23-27. Titled “Media Poetics: Hardy’s Wessex Poems,” the talk was about multi-sensory, embodied reading. Shires also chaired a panel, titled, “Evidence, Interrupted: Suppressions and Repressions in Trollope, Dickens, Hardy and Wilde.” Currently she is editing and writing a preface to a book of essays by her husband, U.C. Knoepflmacher, the Paton Foundation Professor Emeritus in the English department of Princeton University. That work is titled From Romantic to Victorian.
