Fine Contributes Essay to Book on Ancient Jewish Art

Fine_59329c-35Dr. Steven Fine, the Dean Pinkhos Churgin Professor of Jewish History at Yeshiva University, contributed an essay to the forthcoming work Viewing Ancient Jewish Art and Archaeology: VeHinnei Rachel - Essays in Honor of Rachel Hachlili (Koninklijke Brill, 2016). Fine's essay, titled "The Open Torah Ark: A Jewish Iconographic Type in Late Antique Rome and Sardis," discusses the differences between the way Torah arks are portrayed in ancient Jewish art in Israel and other countries.
