Shulamith Z. Berger, curator of special collections and Hebraica-Judaica of YU’s Mendel Gottesman Library, recently translated a chapter of Hibru by Joseph Opatoshu, one of the leading figures of American Yiddish modernism. Berger is a Yiddish Book Center 2015 Translation Fellow and published “Mr. Friedkin and Shoshana: Wandering Souls on the Lower East Side” in the 2016 Translation issue of the Pakn-Treger, the Yiddish Book Center’s Magazine.
