Levine Publishes and Lectures

Michelle LevineDr. Michelle Levine, associate professor of Bible at Stern College for Women, recently published an article, titled, “Havdalah— Emulating God in Mind and Deed: Israel’s Divine Mission and the Quest for Salvation,” in Havdalah, a publication by Mesorah Matrix, New Paradigm Matrix Publishing (eds. David Birnbaum, Martin S. Cohen, and Saul J. Berman), pp. 221—250. In August, Dr. Levine participated in the international conference, the Seventeenth World Congress of Jewish Studies, at Hebrew University, Jerusalem, where she presented a paper, titled, “The Literary and Thematic Unity of Balaam’s Prophecies in Ramban’s Biblical Commentary.” Over the summer, she also delivered a lecture series on the haftarot from the Book of Isaiah for the Three Weeks, at the Young Israel of Forest Hills, NY, and she gave a shiur in Hebrew in Efrat, Israel, on the topic of “The Light of Redemption in the Blessings before Shema.”
