Levine Delivers Community Lectures

Michelle LevineDr. Michelle Levine, associate professor of Bible at Stern College for Women, delivered a number of lectures this fall semester to several communities in New York City. Before Rosh Hashanah, she addressed Congregation Ohab Zedek (Belle Harbor) and for Congregation Ohel Yizhak (Kew Gardens Hills) on the topic, “Awakening Our Souls: Tehillim  for Yamim Noraim.” For Simchat Torah, she gave a women’s lecture in Kew Gardens Hills, titled, “The Master Plan: 10 Sayings + 7 Days = One Olam.” For Chanukah, she spoke to a women’s group in Holliswood on “The Illuminating Miracle of Chanukah.” In addition to the holiday talks, Levine gave a monthly series this fall on the “Women of Tanach” at the Young Israel of Forest Hills. In December she delivered a lecture for Yeshiva University’s Millie Arbesfeld Midreshet Yom Rishon on the topic, “Telling and Retelling: A Reader’s Guide to the Dynamics of the Joseph Story.” Going forward Levine will be continuing her weekly learning group for women in Kew Gardens Hills, now in its 18th year. This year she is teaching the Book of Mishlei.
