Ladin Publishes Ninth Book of Poetry

Joy Ladin, David and Ruth Gottesman Professor of English and director of The Beren Writing Center at Stern College for Women, recently published her ninth book of poetry, The Future is Trying to Tell Us Something: New and Selected Poems (Sheep Meadow Press). Her memoir, Through the Door of Life, was also recently selected by The Jewish Book Council for the National Jewish Book Club. Ladin has also given several presentations around the United States: “Spiritual Sisters: A Reading with Joy Ladin and Lesléa Newman,” at Hadassah Brandeis Institute in Waltham, Massachusets; “Trans and Religious Identities,” at the University of Connecticut, Stamford, Connecticut; “When I Grow Up, I Want to Be the Shekhinah” at SHE: Third Biannual Embodied Judaism Symposium at the University of Colorado in Boulder; “Absolute Queerness: Reading God in the Torah from a Trans Perspective,” at the University of San Francisco, California; “Meet Me at the Corner of Trans and Jewish Identities,” at Sarah Lawrence College in Bronxville, New York; and “How Do I Know Who I Am?” at the Jewish Federation of Durham-Chapel Hill in Durham, North Carolina.
