Aisenbrey Named Deputy Editor

Dr. Silke Aisenbrey, professor of sociology and chair of the department, was named Deputy Editor of Gender & Society, the official journal of Sociologists for Women in Society. Gender & Society, according to its website, publishes articles that “analyze gender and gendered processes in interactions, organizations, societies, and global and transnational spaces.” Her role on the journal’s editorial board complements her own academic interests, which lie in the areas of social inequality, welfare states, the life course, gender inequality and sociology of education. She works mainly with quantitative methods, with a particular interest in longitudinal data analysis. Her research looks at how the work and family life are interrelated and how this relationship between work and family life is different for different groups in our society. Dr. Silke Aisenbrey was recently awarded the 2018 Rosabeth Moss Kanter Award for Excellence in Work-Family Research.
