Maitra Presents Keynote Address

Dr. Radhashree MaitraDr. Radhashree Maitra, associate professor in the biology department of Yeshiva College, was the keynote speaker at the International Conference On Biomarkers in London, United Kingdom, from March 11-12, 2019. She was invited to deliver keynote speech based on her recent publications on colorectal cancer biomarkers and poster presentations at meetings with the American Association for Cancer Research and the American Society of Clinical Oncology. “My speech emphasized the heterogeneity of the cancer disease in general and discussed colorectal cancer specifically, accentuating how important it is to design a personalized treatment regimen,” she noted. “Such personalization can only be achieved if we can identify and develop a robust panel of biomarkers to define the disease. Each patient will be characterized by the expression or silencing of specific biomarkers. This characteristic pattern of biomarkers will guide us in better disease management by making appropriate therapy and treatment choices, finally leading to better quality of life and improved longevity.” Being the keynote speaker “was an honor, and I was thrilled by the chance to do it. This conference helped me in developing a network with the scientific community, and I hope to develop international collaborations in the field of oncology.”
