Dr. Lauren Fitzgerald Publishes Essay on Writing Centers

Dr. Lauren Fitzgerald, professor of English and director of the Wilf Campus Writing Center at Yeshiva University, was invited to contribute to a special issue on “Undergraduate Research as a Future of English Studies” for the journal Pedagogy: Critical Approaches to Teaching Literature, Language, Composition, and Culture from Duke University Press. Her recently published article, “Writing Centers: The Best Place for Undergraduate Research,” argues that writing centers, the programs in which students learn about tutoring, and the academic discipline of writing center studies are ideal locations for such research because they enable students to develop authentic questions while enhancing their research and tutoring skills, to reframe their roles within higher education, and to prepare for a range of career paths.
