Dr. Jill Katz, Clinical Professor Of Archeology, recently published a guest editor introduction for the Journal of Eastern Mediterranean Archaeology and Heritage Studies. The collection of papers focuses on a reassessment of the Philistines and is the culmination of research presented at a conference hosted by Yeshiva University in 2019. Dr. Katz notes in her preface “Philistines! Rehabilitating a Biblical Foe challenged the speakers to present not only new material on the ancient Philistines but also to orient this material toward fresh paradigms. The geographic diversity of the scholars (Australia, Israel, and United States) was matched by the diversity of their primary areas of expertise (archaeological, anthropological, biblical, and botanical).”
