Why isn’t that book where it used to be?

To accommodate the new books that are acquired every year, Library collections at the Wilf and Beren Campuses were shifted this summer, and some were relocated.   This was a massive undertaking in which more than half a million volumes were moved, following a plan that should provide space on the shelves for the next four to five years. Mendel Gottesman Library of Hebraica/Judaica volumes, designated by call numbers beginning with 100 through 999 (classified in the Dewey Decimal system) are now kept in the basement, except for the tall folio books that remain on level 5A.  If you find a book in the YULIS catalog whose location is “Gottesman Basement” or “Gottesman Preserve” please request it and it will be retrieved for you.  Pollack Library books with locations “Pollack Storage” or “Pollack Basement” must be requested as well. Many older Hedi Steinberg Library volumes were moved to an offsite storage facility.  If you require a book in the YULIS catalog that is designated “Stern Offsite” it will be recalled for you upon your request. To arrange for items from these stored collections to be retrieved for you in advance of your visit to the Library, complete and submit the online Request form.  Remember, this form is for stored collections only!
