Meet Tina Weiss, Head Librarian of Hebraica-Judaica

On February 1, 2020 Yeshiva University Libraries welcomed Mendel Gottesman Library’s new Head Librarian, Tina Weiss.  Tina comes to us from Hebrew Union College-Jewish Institute of Religion in New York, where she served as Senior Associate Librarian, as well as Acting Head Librarian.  Tina served on the campus security and safety committees and actively worked with her colleagues at Hebrew Union College-Jewish Institute of Religion in Cincinnati, Los Angeles and Jerusalem.  As Senior Associate Librarian, Tina conducted individual and group sessions to introduce students to research methods, represented HUC-JIR within local and national organizations.  Tina has presented at the Association of Jewish Libraries and the World Congress of Jewish Studies in Jerusalem. An alumna of Queens College, Tina earned a degree in Jewish Studies with minors in history and urban studies.  She also holds a Master of Library Science degree from Queens College, an MBA degree from SUNY Oswego, and a Master of Arts degree from Yeshiva University. With specific strengths in rabbinic literature, Jewish history and Bible, the Mendel Gottesman Library of Hebraica-Judaica at Yeshiva University serves as students and faculty members of Yeshiva College, Bernard Revel Graduate School of Jewish Studies, Azrieli Graduate School of Jewish Education and Administration, and the Rabbi Isaac Elchanan Theological Seminary.  Scholars and researchers from around the world consult with the library and explore its in-depth, multilingual collections.
