Hatzioni Visits The UN

by David Aaronson ('14)

On Yom Yerushalayim, members of out Hatzioni club were privileged to visit the Israeli Mission to the United Nations. Thirty students, accompanied by Mr. Toporovsky, departed MTA at 1:30pm and headed for midtown Manhattan. We arrived at the mission a bit early, which gave us time to go to Starbucks, Mendy's, and Grand Central Terminal beforehand! When we arrived at the UN Mission, we went through a security check similar to those in the airports. Following the security process, we heard an excellent presentation from Noa Furman, Israel's Senior Representative to the United Nations. Ms. Furman spoke to us about Israel's role in the United Nations and the activities Israel is working on with UN organizations to help make the world a better place. She also addressed the issue of the anti-Israel bias in the UN, something that has unfortunately been a conflict for many years. We returned back to school at 5:30PM, where we concluded this wonderful event. Thanks so much to all who participated.
