Seniors Inducted and Juniors Selected at Annual Arista Dinner

by Yaakov Saks ('14)
On Wednesday night, MTA hosted its annual Arista National Honor Society Dinner. This dinner honored the seniors who were able to maintain a minimum GPA throughout their high school years and introduced the juniors for the upcoming year; many guests and parents joined the students in attendance at this special event.
The dinner began with words of welcome from Mrs. Levitt, our Arista faculty advisor, and continued with speeches from the senior officers who described the many successful activities run by Arista students this past year, including blood drives, student to student tutoring programs, and a school-wide study night in advance of Midterm Exams, as well as from seniors discussing the four different pillars of the Arista society, Character, Scholarship, Leadership and Service. After dinner was served, Rabbi Taubes shared greetings and then presented Rabbi Dr. Bernard Rosensweig, long-time Professor of Jewish History at Yeshiva University, who delivered the Shalom Frankel Memorial Lecture, speaking about the obstacles and accomplishments of the Jewish people throughout their existence and noting how our continued success defies all commonly accepted historical theories.
The MTA choir then performed, singing their competition-winning song "Adon Olam". The dinner concluded with the presentation of the certificates for the senior inductees by Dr. Taylor and the announcement of the names of the junior candidates by Mr. Dobrick.
Also in attendance were members of the Frankel family, long-time supporters of the study of Jewish History at MTA and sponsors of the evening's lecture. They were thanked for their continued support by Rabbi Dr. Herbert Dobrinsky, YU Vice President for University Affairs.
Congratulations to my fellow Senior Arista members who worked hard to achieve this status and good luck to all as they pursue their future endeavors.
