Varsity Hockey Dominates Rambam - Moves On To Next Round

by Jeremy Borgen ('15)
Last night, the Varsity Lions headed to The Lions' Den to take on the Rambam Ravens in the first round of the playoffs. After a disappointing loss to North Shore in their final game of the season, the Lions looked to bounce back and continue their run towards the championship. The Ravens were in for a big surprise. The Lions came onto the court with fire and brought that excitement to the back of the net, scoring 3 goals in the first period, one each from Zev Markowitz, Daniel Yager and Ezra Quint. In the second period, the Lions continued their domination, with star goalie Shuki Weinstein again not letting anything through. Yager tacked on a second goal from Ami Rosenfeld and the Lions entered the second intermission with a commanding 4-0 lead. Every line for the Lions created great scoring opportunities throughout the game and especially in the final period, when Eitan Shatkin scored his first of the game off a crisp pass from Ezra Quint and Daniel Yager scored yet again to complete the hat trick. The final score was 6-0 for MTA. The Lions are now preparing for their quarter-final matchup against the HAFTR Hawks on Tuesday, February 24 at 8:00pm.
