Honoring MTA and The Bard

On Thursday afternoon, Gedaliah Zemel ('15) represented YUHSB in the semi-final round of the English-Speaking Union's National Shakespeare Competition, held at the Stephen Schwartzmann branch of the New York Public Library on 42nd Street, with participants from public, private and charter schools around Greater New York. Accompanied by Mrs. Levitt and Ms. Lewis, Gedaliah gave a powerful rendition of Shylock in The Merchant of Venice (Act I, Scene iii), and Sonnet 138, bringing the audience to laughter and powerful applause. Coached by Mrs. Levitt with feedback from Rabbi Brownstein, Dr. Taylor and Ms. Lewis, Gedaliah deserves hearty congratulations for his hard work and impressive talent. Bravo!
