On Tuesday night, the defense of the YUHSB Mock Trial team competed against the Browning School. The case regarded Casey Cheatham, the CFO of Pearson Precisions Inc. and treasurer of a school fundraising organization, who allegedly stole tens of thousands of dollars from an organizational fund raiser. There was no clear evidence, but witness Taylor Templeton claims that there should have been over $70,000 more profit from the games of chance alone.

It was a very heated match and both teams did extremely well. After some intense testimonies and examinations, MTA lost by just two points.

A great job, though, was done by witnesses Mendel Weintraub (Dr. Jesse James), Yishai Eisenberg (Alex Aldrich), and Shimmy Mandelbaum (Taylor Templeton) with their incredible presentations. Congratulations also to lawyers CJ Glicksman, Ben-Tzion Zuckier, and Avraham Tsikhanovski on their superb performances.

MTA’s next match will be as the plaintiffs in March. If they win that match, they will continue on to the next round. Thank you to coach Noah Pollack, Senior Attorney at the Special Funds Conservation Committee, for his passionate coaching.
