Sports Update

Varsity Hockey (by Rami Nordlicht '16): On Sunday, November 1st, the MTA Varsity Hockey Lions faced off against the Westchester Wolverines. The Lions were coming off their first win of the season and were looking to extend their winning streak. After the puck dropped, the Lions came out flying and did not relent, scoring at a torrent pace throughout the game. By the time the final buzzer sounded, the score was 13-1. The large margin of victory was testament to the Lions' complete and utter domination on both sides of the court. We would like to extend a shout-out to Jeremy Borgen, Yosef Stern, and Yehuda Benscher on their fantastic multi-goal efforts and to defensemen Ari Hagler and Yitzy Weiss on scoring their first goals of the young season. Varsity Basketball: On Sunday, the Lions took on the Hillel Heat in the Max, and it was a game of the ages. Down for most of the game, the Lions clawed their way back and took a lead in the fourth quarter. However, that lead would dissipate and it was Yehuda Colton's last second tip-in that tied the game, sending it to overtime! The Lions then took control the rest of the way, winning by a final score of 54-46. On Tuesday, the Lions traveled to Livingston to take on the Kushner Cobras. The Lions cruised to victory there, winning 45-19. We look forward to continued success!
