MTA Successful in Debate Match at Central

by Dovid Scwartz ('17) On Thursday, the MTA Debate team went to Central to participate in a debate regarding whether or not a former felon should be allowed to vote without restrictions. On one hand, people convicted of a felony have demonstrated that they have bad judgment and thus should not be trusted. On the other hand, jail time is what society imposes as punishment for these inmates, and since, upon being released, they are considered to have atoned for their sins, they should not be faced with even more consequences after the conclusion of their sentence. The night began with wins from 3 out of 4 of MTA's teams in the first round. The results for the second round were not yet posted as of the writing of this story, but we are confident that we won many of the remaining matches and awards as well.
