by Ari Englander (’17)

This past weekend was the annual Highland Park and Edison Shabbaton. The excitement started with the packed late ride from MTA Thursday night and the boys enjoyed davening and hanging out together on Friday morning. The boys regrouped Friday night to hold their own Carlebach minyan, led by DJ Wartelsky (’20). After finishing their meals at their hosts, the boys headed to the home of Yair Caplan (’17) for a ruach-filled tisch open to 8th graders as well. The next day, the MTA boys davened together at the Ohr Torah Teen Minyan led by MTA alumnus Ami Avraham (’98), with Raziel Siegman (’17) and Ari Englander (’17) leading Shacharis and Mussaf respectively. Upon the completion of davening, the boys were treated to a gala kiddush sponsored by MTA, followed by lunch in the shul. Thank you to Elie Hirt and Rabbi Green and his family for joining us and organizing this Shabbaton, to the Caplans for hosting the wonderful Friday night tisch, and to all the MTA boys who came from far and wide and who leined and shared divrei torah over the course of Shabbos.
