On Motzei Shabbos, February 11th, the Varsity MTA Lions took the court against the Magen David Warriors. During the first part of the game, the fierce Lions and the powerful Warriors matched each other point for point, and at halftime, Magen David was leading by one point. However, as the game progressed, the Warriors slowed down from apparent exhaustion, while the Lions were able to stay full of energy and kept playing with intensity, resulting in a final score of 41-32 in favor of MTA.

Tuesday, February 14, was a special night at the Max for the MTA seniors on the varsity basketball team. Before playing the JEC Thunder in their final regular season game, Coach Weissberg made a presentation to honor them by highlighting their contributions to the team and then called up each senior to have his picture taken with family members and the coaches. Even though the Lions were already assured a spot in the playoffs, the Lions came out to play. At the end of a closely contested first quarter, MTA was up 14-10, but the Lions then did not allow the Thunder to score again until the third quarter. What was particularly special about this game was that every senior scored at least one point. The Lions won 51-29 and the leading scorers were Aaron Saxon, Yitzi Felman and Eli Gruenburg with eight points apiece. The Lions are now excited for the post-season, which they will start when they take on the TABC storm in a home game next Thursday.
