On Wednesday night, the varsity basketball MTA Lions traveled to Brooklyn to take on the YDE Thunder in the Yeshiva League Quarterfinals. The game started with both teams coming out cold and the game remained scoreless through the first four minutes. However, after Eli Gruenberg (’17) and Aryeh Halpert (’17) turned up the heat, the Lions took control. At the half the Lions were winning 33-14. YDE came out of the locker room strong going on a 5-0 run to start the 3rd. But the Lions bounced back and went up 20 and kept it there all game, finishing with a score of 53-32, behind strong play from Zachary Fish (’17) and Yehuda Colton (’17). Aryeh Halpert, Meir Jacoby (’17), and Eli Gruenberg led the team with 8 points each.
