Coding Class Celebrates Star Wars Day!

File_000 This year's new 10th grade Computer Science class is wrapping up the year and finishing their unit on styling web pages with the CSS language. This Thursday, May 4th, the students spent some time in class working on online interactive coding puzzles and challenges to celebrate Star Wars Day! Star Wars Day, named for the pun on the phrase "May the Force be with you" as "May the Fourth be with you," is an annual celebration for Star Wars fans. The students participated in Hour of Code™ on Code.org and had the opportunity to hear from some of the producers and engineers who worked on the Star Wars movies. The Hour of Code™ is a nationwide initiative to introduce millions of students to computer science and computer programming. Afterward, the students proceeded to complete a series of coding challenges and designed their own games using JavaScript. Each student who completed the exercise was presented with a certificate. Students had a great time designing their games, all of which were out of this world!
