Students Bring Poetry To Life In Mrs. Levitt’s English Literature Class

By: Yoni Wilks (‘20) Over the past few weeks, students in Mrs. Levitt’s Sophomore English Literature class had the opportunity to choose a British poet from the 1800’s - 1900’s and explore their poetry by presenting it to the entire class. Students not only read the poems with inflection, but also expressed the meaning behind each poem. This exercise demonstrated how a strong message can be delivered to its readers.  The last day of presentations ended with a public speaking component, where each student memorized part of a poem and led an interactive discussion on its theme and important points with the class.  The discussions covered a wide range of  topics, from life and childhood all the way to love and war.  Students enjoyed learning from one another as well as the opportunity to sharpen their public speaking skills.
