MTA Mock Trial Team Wins First Match Of The Season

By: David Tanner ('18)
This past Tuesday, February 27th, the MTA Mock Trial team trekked to the New York County Criminal Courthouse at 100 Centre Street downtown to compete against Validus Academy in their first match of the season, this time acting as the Prosecution.  This year's case is a criminal trial where Carson Conners, the defendant, is charged with Disorderly Conduct for shoving another student in the school hallway.
Davi Hazan ('19), Benny Mermel ('19), and David Tanner ('18) acted as the defense lawyers, while Gabe Isaacs ('18), Moshe Inger ('20), and Raphi Feig (‘20) stepped into their roles as witnesses.  A tense trial followed, with opening statements, direct and cross examinations of the witnesses, objections and responses, submission of evidence, and closing statements.  The ruling: An encouraging victory for MTA.  We thank our coach, Noah Pollack, and hope for more wins as we advance further!
