MTA JV Basketball Lions Are 2-0

The MTA JV Basketball Lions tipped off their third game in six days on Monday night, November 11th against The Idea School. The tip off was easily won by Sophomore Donny Book, and after a couple of easy layups and fade-away mid-range jumpers by Sophomore Dani Wolk, MTA took the lead. The Idea School came right back with a few 3 pointers by Gabe Shein, but MTA kept pouring it on by hitting shot after shot after shot. With great rebounding by Sophomore Yehuda Emerson and Book, MTA was able to seal an incredible first half with a score of 25-14. Coming out of the locker room, the coaches told the team that they were playing very well against the Idea School’s offense and all they had to do better was rebound and keep the game in check. That’s exactly what the Lions did. MTA’s bench came in a few minutes into the half and played very well. Highlighted by Sophomore Aron Skoczylas hitting a jumper and a few free throws, and Freshman Eitan Haselkorn sinking a three, MTA sealed the win with a final score of 54-27 to improve their season record to 2-0. The Lions hope to keep the streak alive with their home opener against Kushner on Monday, November 25th at 7pm.
