24 Syms Students Inducted Into Prestigious Business Honors Society

On Friday, April 28, 24 students and one faculty member from the Sy Syms School of Business were inducted into Beta Gamma Sigma (BGS), the international business society. The event took place on Zoom, and began with opening remarks by Dr. Noam Wasserman, dean of Sy Syms. Dr. Moses Pava, The Alvin H. Einbender University Professor in Business Ethics and director, Syms Honors Program, also spoke to the students and was followed by Dr. Shu Han, BGS faculty advisor, who discussed the Society’s history and its statistics. Emily Kaplan, Honors academic advisor, served as master of ceremonies. Michael Strauss, associate dean and entrepreneur-in-residence, presented the students awards, and closing remarks were given by Yoel (Cody) Halbert ‘23SB, 2023 Sy Syms student council president and BGS member since 2021. Syms faculty, faculty advisers and some families also attended the event. In addition to the students listed below, Debra Pine, assistant dean at Syms, was inducted into the honors society. Since 2015, the YU chapter of BGS has inducted the top 10% of Syms students, totaling more than 200, and offers lifetime membership to the Society as well as networking opportunities, discounts on graduate school and other benefits.
