800 Students Learn About Leadership from UK Chief Rabbi Sir Jonathan Sacks in Israel

Dec 10, 2008 -- A capacity crowd of nearly 800 Yeshiva University students studying in Israel on the S. Daniel Abraham Israel Program turned out to hear Rabbi Sir Jonathan Sacks, the Chief Rabbi of the United Kingdom, speak on the importance of leadership on Nov. 28. The lecture at the Renaissance Hotel in Jerusalem was sponsored by Yeshiva University in conjunction with the Bi-Annual Convention of the Orthodox Union (OU). Listen to the chief rabbi's shiur here. Rabbi Sacks spoke about the impact that Yeshiva University students can have on their communities and the world around them. "In the presence of lay leaders from the OU and rabbanim alike, Rabbi Sacks charged these students with the responsibility of becoming the next leaders of Klal Yisrael [the people of Israel]," Rabbi Ari Solomont, director of the S. Daniel Abraham Israel Program, said. "He also eloquently conveyed the message that the path to meeting this challenge runs through Yeshiva University.
