A Summer Afternoon at Coney Island’s Maimonides Park

“Take me out to the ballgame,” goes the song, and on Sunday, Aug. 21, 2022, that is exactly what 200 YU alumni, staff, family and friends did as they came to watch the Brooklyn Cyclones at Maimonides Park in an event organized by the Office of Alumni Affairs.
Dr. Berman goes into the stretch.
Unfortunately, the Cyclones lost to the Hudson Valley Renegades 9 - 3 after the Renegades scored six runs in the top of the 10th inning to turn a close game into a rout. But that didn’t dampen YU’s enthusiasm as they sat in the summer sun while eating good food, drinking sodas and proudly wearing their Cyclones baseball caps as they caught up on old times and new. Dr. Berman, president of Yeshiva University, even got into the action by tossing out the opening pitch of the game, which Jack Turell, manager of alumni relations, judged was a strike. Read more about the game and see the pictures. The Jewish Link also had a nice write-up about the day.
