Agnon’s Tales of the Land of Israel

On October 31, 2016, the Yeshiva University Center for Israel Studies, under the directorship of Dr. Steven Fine, held a conference titled “Agnon’s Stories of the Land of Israel: Celebrating the 50th Anniversary of S.Y. Agnon’s Nobel Prize.” The Center organized the conference behalf of the Joseph and Faye Glatt Program on Israel and the Rule of Law and Rabbi Shalom Carmy, assistant professor of Bible and Jewish philosophy, and Rabbi Jeffrey Saks ’91YC, ’93BR, ’95R, Agnon scholar and director of the Academy for Torah Initiatives and Directions, convened the scholars who presented.

  The essays from that conference are now available in Agnon’s Tales of the Land of Israel from Wipf and Stock Publishers, edited by Carmy and Saks and with contributions from Shulamith Z. Berger, Shalom Carmy, Zafrira Cohen Lidovsky, Steven Fine, Hillel Halkin, Avraham Holtz, Alan Mintz, Jeffrey Saks, Moshe Simkovich, Laura Wiseman and Wendy Zierler. The book is dedicated to the memory of Rabbi Ozer Glickman ז״ל.
